Gulf Coast Music Therapy (GCMT) is owned and operated by Virginia Bibler. Virginia is a graduate of The Florida State University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy in 2005. She holds the credentials MT-BC, Music Therapist Board Certified. In June 2008, Virginia also became nationally certified as a NICU Music Therapist after receiving specialized training in implementing Music Therapy programs in Neonatal Intensive Care Units and providing Music Therapy to premature infants. In addition, she has completed training at the Grief and Loss Music Therapy Institute to provide music therapy and counseling in bereavement. Virginia has devoted the past 18 years to advocating for Music Therapy in Bradenton and Sarasota, including developing Music Therapy programs at Tidewell Hospice, Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Beyond the Spectrum Educational Center, Selby Preschool, The Haven, and a number of local memory care and assisted living facilities while also serving children with disabilities in individual therapy at GCMT.
In 2023, Virginia expanded further to become a Certified Music Together teacher and incorporated the incredible Music Together Curriculum into what GCMT can offer the community. This early childhood family music model is the perfect compliment to early intervention practice as well as bonding and attachment work that is so vital for many of our families.
Virginia is a Florida native; she grew up locally in Palmetto and settled here with her family after college. She is an advocate for foster care and adoption. She enjoys the moments when work overlaps personal and she is able to be involved in educating and increasing awareness about the need for foster care families and the importance of understanding the impacts of loving kids who have experienced trauma. Virginia and her husband, Jake, have 2 beautiful girls, one biological and one adopted, and two Australian Shepherd dogs. Virginia plays violin and guitar.
