Kamilla Akmuradova, MM, MT-BC, NMT
Kamilla Akmuradova, from Grand Rapids, MI, received her undergraduate degree in piano performance and music therapy from Michigan State University, and Masters degree in music therapy from Western Michigan University with specialty in dementia and neurologic disorders. Kamilla worked with Heartland Hospice, Grand Rapids, MI, for seven years with patients diagnosed with a wide range of neurologic and chronic conditions including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, COPD, CHF, TBI. In December 2018, she obtained NMT certification by taking Neurologic Music Therapy training to expand her knowledge and diversify patient population. This prompted Kamilla to develop a new Music Therapy Program at Lake Michigan Academy, Grand Rapids, MI, where she worked with students of different neurological and learning disabilities. Kamilla was contracted by numerous memory care facilities throughout West Michigan where she provided music therapy services to individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. In 2024, Kamilla became a certified Music Together teacher and now incorporates that outstanding curriculum into her work.
In her free time, Kamilla volunteers at her children’s schools, enjoys hiking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
